Traces opens to standing ovation!
The exciting French-Canadian company Les 7 Doigts de la Main began their Australian tour of Traces in Adelaide on Tuesday 21 July at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
The full house buzzed with anticipation. From the moment the show started the crowd were entranced by the jaw-dropping skills of this young cast. They fling themselves between 10 foot poles (sans harness!), they dance gracefully and passionately, and the characters are touchingly honest yet genuinely hilarious.
Traces has you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. One not to be missed!!
“Life passes, it suggests, and we will disappear without trace, but while we are here we might as well fly and attempt the impossible. They do. I'd swear they have wings, but then they also play the piano and have ball skills that would make Beckham weep. The entire show is beautifully choreographed, most particularly in an early acrobatic pas de deux between a man and a woman, which speaks volumes as her body constantly arcs away from his.”

“The variety of acts and the insouciance of the accomplishment masks the effort, without detracting from the astonishing skills, including piano playing. While the story-line's seriousness occasionally appears, the tone is more light-hearted than sombre. A basketball is tossed around with intricate alacrity, and a sequence with skateboards and rollerskates is particularly beguiling, with Raphael Cruz clearly the class clown.”
