WOMADelaide
Event Manager and Executive Producer - WOMADelaide (biennally from 1993-2003, annually from 2004-present), WOMAD NZ (1999, biennially from 2003-2007, annually from 2008-present), WOMAD Indian Pacific (1996) & WOMAD in the Vales (1998).
WOMAD stands for the World Of Music Arts & Dance. WOMADelaide is the only WOMAD event in Australia and it is considered by many to be Australia's best outdoor music festival. Held in Adelaide's beautiful Botanic Park, it features seven outdoor stages featuring performances and workshops by around 35 groups from 20 countries, a KidZone, 100 international food, crafts and display stalls, visual arts, street theatre and more. The festival is produced by the WOMADelaide Foundation and managed by Arts Projects Australia and WOMAD Ltd.
APA directors and associates established the first WOMADelaide festival as part of the biennial Adelaide Festival of Arts in 1992 and, since then, APA has handled the artistic direction, marketing and project management of this internationally-renowned and highly successful event.
In 1999, APA also managed the inaugural WOMAD NZ in Auckland, and has co-produced WOMAD NZ in New Plymouth since 2003. It created and managed the 1996 WOMAD Indian Pacific tour and WOMAD in the Vales, the closing event for the Adelaide Festival 1998, and produced 22 tours by 14 groups to WOMAD festivals in South Africa, New Zealand, the USA, Singapore and the UK as part of the 1999 Olympic Arts Festivals Reaching the World program.
The next WOMADelaide will be held 6-8 March 2009 in Botanic Park, Adelaide.
